HID is short for High Intensity Discharge, whose first application is air transport and later became widely used in automobile. The principle is that through initiator and electronic ballast, the electric arc is generated in two electrodes then gives out light. HID is constituted by lamp holder (xenon bulb), electronic ballast (voltage stabilizer) and line set. Once there is some malfunction, HID lights won’t quench immediately, they will gradually become darker and darker to win drivers more time in pulling over.
